Lawrence Gust received a BS Electrical Engineering degree and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin. Mr. Gust has a 25-year business background with two Fortune 500 companies. He studied environmental technology at the International Institute for Building Biology and Ecology (www.buildingbiology.net) and is a certified Building Biology Environmental Consultant (BBEC). He continues to teach at the Institute and is president of the board of directors. Mr. Gust is a Certified Mold Remediator (CMR) through the Indoor Air Quality Assoc. (http://www.iaqa.org) and a Certified Electromagnetic Radiation Safety Advisor (CERSA) through the Safe Wireless Initiative of the Science and Public Policy Institute (http://www.safewireless.org).
Mr. Gust is the founder of Gust Environmental, a company that serves the southern California area. His company specializes in complete assessment of indoor environmental health factors from the perspective of the growing human sensitivity to environmental toxins rather than according to industry or governmental standards. Mr. Gust has evaluated and recommended remedial measures in over 1000 residential and commercial buildings since 1993. He specializes in working through health care practitioners to assess patient’s homes for mold, mildew, chemical and electromagnetic pollution that can degrade the health supporting nature of the home. He also consults on the environmental aspects of the construction of a new homes and offices. Mr. Gust has appeared on the NBC Today Show in the segment called Is Your Home Making You Sick? The clip of this appearance can be viewed using Internet Explorer only at his web site www.healbuildings.com. This site also contains useful information about indoor environmental issues.
Mr. Gust has spoken at the Scripps-Mende Well Baby Program, the 2006 Cancer Control Convention in LA and at the 2007 World Congress on Integrative Medicines in Santa Fe. Mr. Gust will appear in early in 2008 in Green This House on the soon to be rebranded Discovery Home Network which is to be devoted to how to lead an environmentally conscious life.
